I moved my blog over to my website so for the latest posts, go to:
As the baseball season slowly comes to a close and the Twins are no where relevant in any playoff chase, when a game goes into extra innings, you hear a collective groan from all the TV and photographer staffers at the game. We all turn and start blaming each other for jinxing the game and it’s of course someones fault because it would be awesome not to be there until midnight. But….usually an extra inning win will make for some great pictures. The Twins rallied in the 8th and 9th inning to tie and then beat the Detroit Tigers the 11th inning. Josmil Pinto (pictured with the shaving cream pie), drove in the winning RBI.

This was my first attempt at photographing fireworks at Target Field (or anywhere actually). It was the last time the Twins were letting fireworks off after the game for the remainder of the season, so it was my last opportunity for the year, otherwise, it’ll have to wait until next season.
I had a couple of ideas…
- I would set up a remote and get a field view of the stadium with a remote camera (seen here).
- I wanted to go outside and get a stadium shot with the fireworks.
The trouble was the outdoor shots would be too far away to trigger the remote…so luckily I had a fellow photographer friend (twitter: Ben Krause), who was attending the game and he could fire my remote. The timer was set for a 30 sec. shot, so he’d just have to guess every time and hit the button whenever.
Above are the results from inside and outside the stadium. The verdict…ehhh not bad. Hindsight and next years shots..I’d go lower to field view for the interior shots and outside I’ll have to scout for another location. not displeased, but they could be better.
